Mordechai Spiegler

Mordechai Spiegler is widely regarded as one of Israel’s most important footballers, starring for Maccabi Netanya and later playing abroad for Paris Saint-Germain and the New York Cosmos. As Israel’s captain, he scored the country’s only goal at the 1970 FIFA World Cup, in a 1–1 draw with Sweden. He also helped Israel win the 1964 AFC Asian Cup and later worked as a manager, including with Maccabi Netanya.
