Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari

Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari (1710–1812) was a prominent Shafi'i Muslim scholar from South Kalimantan who helped shape Islamic learning and religious practice in the Banjar region. After extended study in Mecca and Medina, he returned to the Banjar sultanate, where he taught, advised the ruler, and served as a religious authority. His best-known work, Sabil al-Muhtadin, became an influential reference in Islamic jurisprudence, while his writings also addressed theology, Sufism, and astronomy.
