Nalini Malani

Nalini Malani is an Indian contemporary artist whose practice spans painting, video, installation, theatre, animation, and shadow play. Born in Karachi in 1946 and shaped by displacement during the Partition of India, she developed work that examines conflict, gender, nationalism, migration, and the voices of people marginalized by history. Her experimental, multimedia practice helped establish video and immersive installation as important forms in Indian contemporary art.
