Nándor Hidegkuti

Nándor Hidegkuti was a key forward of Hungary’s celebrated “Magic Magyars” and helped the national team win Olympic gold in 1952. Renowned for dropping deep from the centre-forward position, he scored a hat-trick in Hungary’s famous 6–3 victory over England at Wembley in 1953. After retiring, Hidegkuti became a successful manager, leading Fiorentina to the inaugural European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1961 and guiding Győr to the European Cup semi-finals in 1964–65.
