Noel Chabani Manganyi

Noel Chabani Manganyi was a pioneering South African psychologist, scholar, author and higher-education leader whose work examined Black subjectivity, race and identity under apartheid. He helped establish psychology at the University of Transkei, taught and researched at the University of the Witwatersrand, and later held senior university and government positions. His books include *Being Black in the World*, *Gerard Sekoto: “I Am an African”* and the memoir *Apartheid and the Making of a Black Psychologist*.
