Omar Onsi

Omar Onsi was a pioneering Lebanese painter whose landscapes, portraits, and watercolors helped shape the visual language of modern Lebanon. Trained first in Beirut by Khalil Saleeby and later in Paris, he developed a realist-naturalist approach grounded in close observation of the country’s landscapes, people, and customs. He also helped build Lebanon’s art institutions, including the Lebanese Association for Artists, Painters, and Sculptors, and later served on the board of the Sursock Museum.
