Oodgeroo Noonuccal

Oodgeroo Noonuccal, formerly known as Kath Walker, was a Quandamooka poet, writer, educator and activist whose work linked literary expression with the struggle for Aboriginal rights. Her 1964 collection, *We Are Going*, was the first published book of poetry by an Aboriginal Australian, establishing her as a major voice in Indigenous literature. She also campaigned for the 1967 constitutional referendum and founded Moongalba on Minjerribah as an educational and cultural centre.
