Paul Tillich

Paul Tillich was a German-American Protestant theologian and philosopher whose work connected Christian theology with existential questions about meaning, anxiety, faith, and human freedom. After being dismissed from his Frankfurt position in 1933, he emigrated to the United States and taught at Union Theological Seminary, Harvard University, and the University of Chicago. His major works include *Systematic Theology*, *The Courage to Be*, and *Dynamics of Faith*, which helped make him one of the most influential Protestant thinkers of the twentieth century.
