Paz Encina

Paz Encina is a Paraguayan director and screenwriter whose cinema combines fiction, documentary approaches, archival material, and an acute attention to sound. Her debut feature, Hamaca paraguaya (2006), opened Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section and received the FIPRESCI Award. Her later work, including Ejercicios de memoria and Eami, explores Paraguay’s historical memory, political violence, and Indigenous displacement through formally restrained storytelling.
