About Pearl Gibbs

Pearl Gibbs was a leading Indigenous Australian activist whose work advanced Aboriginal rights and citizenship from the 1930s onward. She helped organise the 1938 Day of Mourning, served on the New South Wales Aborigines Welfare Board, and co-founded the Aboriginal-Australian Fellowship with Faith Bandler in 1956. She later established a Dubbo hostel for Aboriginal people receiving medical treatment, extending her activism into practical community support.
