Philippa Foot

Philippa Foot was an English moral philosopher whose work helped revive virtue ethics in contemporary analytic philosophy. Associated with Somerville College, Oxford, and later UCLA, she examined virtue, practical reason, moral judgment, and the doctrine of double effect. Her influential essays and book *Natural Goodness* drew substantially on Aristotle while developing an original account of human flourishing and moral evaluation.
