Philippe Couplet

Philippe Couplet was a Flemish Jesuit missionary whose work in China combined evangelization with the study and translation of Chinese texts. He helped produce *Confucius Sinarum Philosophus* (1687), an influential Latin presentation of Confucian thought that introduced major Chinese philosophical works to European readers.
