Piotr Steinkeller

Piotr Steinkeller (1799–1854) was a Polish entrepreneur, banker, and industrialist whose ventures helped lay foundations for modern industry in Poland. After studying commerce and banking in Vienna, he developed coal mining and zinc smelting at Jaworzno before expanding into steel, mining, milling, agricultural machinery, and other enterprises from Warsaw. Known as the “king of zinc,” Steinkeller combined large-scale industrial investment with commercial and financial activity across the Polish lands.
