Priscilla Bright McLaren

Priscilla Bright McLaren was a British activist who connected the nineteenth-century anti-slavery and women’s suffrage movements. Based in Edinburgh, she helped lead the Edinburgh Society for Women’s Suffrage and supported campaigns for married women’s property rights and the repeal of the Contagious Diseases Acts. Her reform work grew from a Quaker background and placed her among Scotland’s important early suffrage organizers.
