Qian Daxin

Qian Daxin was a Qing dynasty scholar-official whose wide-ranging research made him a leading historian and linguist of the evidential-learning tradition. He studied classical texts, history, phonology, bibliography, and epigraphy, and served in the Hanlin Academy before becoming Guangdong’s education commissioner. His scholarship included extensive critical work on the official histories, especially the History of Yuan, while his teaching influenced generations of late-Qing scholars.
