Raquel Forner

Raquel Forner was an Argentine artist whose paintings, drawings, prints, and objects confronted the violence of the Spanish Civil War and World War II. After engaging with the Paris-based Argentine avant-garde, she developed a later body of work inspired by space exploration, combining cosmic imagery with mythic and distinctly Argentine references. Her work is held by major institutions including Argentina’s Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
