Roots Manuva

Roots Manuva is the stage name of Rodney Hylton Smith, a British rapper and producer whose work helped define an idiosyncratic South London strain of UK hip-hop. Emerging in the 1990s, he fused Jamaican soundsystem influences, dub and ragga with sharply observed, distinctly British lyricism. His albums *Brand New Second Hand* and *Run Come Save Me* established him as a major figure in British rap.
