Samuel Rayan

Samuel Rayan was an Indian Jesuit theologian whose work helped shape a distinctly Indian form of liberation theology. Rooted in engagement with poverty, marginalization, social movements, and India’s religious and cultural resources, his theology connected Christian reflection with concrete struggles for human dignity. He taught for decades at Vidyajyoti in Delhi and wrote extensively in English and Malayalam, including The Holy Spirit: Heart of the Gospel and Christian Hope (1978).
