Şevki Bey

Şevki Bey was an Ottoman Turkish classical-music composer and vocalist whose reputation rests chiefly on his şarkı compositions. After entering the Muzıka-yi Hümâyun, he developed under the influence of Hacı Ârif Bey and became associated with the late classical tradition. The İstanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory archive preserves hundreds of scores attributed to him, reflecting the breadth of his surviving repertory.
