Shahzia Sikander

Shahzia Sikander is a Pakistani-American artist whose practice reimagines Indo-Persian miniature painting through drawing, painting, animation, installation, and video. Trained at Pakistan’s National College of Arts and Rhode Island School of Design, she helped expand miniature traditions into contemporary art by questioning their formal boundaries and cultural assumptions. Her work often explores migration, gender, identity, and the complex exchange between South Asian and American visual cultures.
