Shane Gould

Shane Gould is an Australian swimmer whose brief international career made her one of the sport’s defining young talents. At the 1972 Munich Olympics, she won three individual gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, with each gold set in world-record time. Gould also became the first woman to hold freestyle world records at every distance from 100 to 1,500 metres, alongside the 200-metre individual medley record.
