Sir Michael Sobell

Sir Michael Sobell (1892–1993) was a British industrialist who chaired GEC (Radio & Television) Ltd and helped develop Britain’s radio and television manufacturing industry. He became a major philanthropist, establishing the Anne and Michael Sobell Trust in 1962, later known as the Sobell Foundation, which supported medical, educational, housing and youth causes. His charitable legacy includes support for hospice care, including Sobell House in Oxford, while he was also a prominent owner and breeder of thoroughbred racehorses.
