Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas

Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas was a Malaysian Islamic scholar and philosopher whose work examined Islamic metaphysics, Malay intellectual history, language, education, and civilization. He developed the influential concept of the Islamization of knowledge and founded the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) in 1987. His scholarship also shaped debates about the philosophy of education and the role of Islam in modern academic institutions.
