Taha Hussein

Taha Hussein was an Egyptian writer, literary critic, historian, and educator who became a leading figure of the Arab Renaissance. His criticism, especially the controversial 1926 study *On Pre-Islamic Poetry*, challenged established approaches to Arabic literary history. Blind from early childhood, he pursued advanced study in Egypt and France, later serving as Egypt’s minister of education and advocating broad access to schooling.
