Tipu Sultan

Tipu Sultan was the ruler of the South Indian state of Mysore from 1782 until his death in 1799. Based at Seringapatam, he developed an elaborate royal court and became renowned for his opposition to the British East India Company. His reign remains central to the history of late-eighteenth-century Mysore and the Anglo-Mysore conflicts.
