Tony Elumelu

Tony Elumelu is a Nigerian banker, investor, and philanthropist whose career centers on expanding African financial institutions and private-sector investment. He led the transformation of Standard Trust Bank and its 2005 merger with United Bank for Africa, later founding Heirs Holdings in 2010 to invest across sectors including finance, energy, power, hospitality, technology, and healthcare. That same year, he established the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which promotes entrepreneurship across Africa through training, mentoring, and seed funding, reflecting his philosophy of “Africapitalism.”
