William Cobbett

William Cobbett was an English radical journalist, pamphleteer, farmer, and political reformer whose writing brought rural poverty and parliamentary corruption to national attention. He published the influential Political Register and later wrote Rural Rides, combining political argument with vivid observations of England’s countryside. After the Great Reform Act of 1832, he represented Oldham in Parliament until his death in 1835.
