About Yuan Haowen
Yuan Haowen (1190–1257) was a major poet, writer, and historian of the Jin dynasty. After the dynasty fell to the Mongols in 1233, he devoted much of his later life to preserving its literary and historical record, compiling an anthology of Jin poetry and working on a history of the dynasty. He wrote more than 1,300 shi poems and is especially known for poetry lamenting the Jin’s collapse, as well as for the influential critical sequence “Thirty Poems on Poetry.”
