Understanding this quote
The quote says that unfair judgment begins when someone is measured by criteria they never chose or valued. An artist may be judged by popularity, commercial success, or technical rules when their work is meant to be understood in another way. The key point is that evaluation feels especially wrong when the standard itself does not fit the person or their work.
